"What will they ask me?"

Expect a real demo, not just questions about demos. The SE interview usually tests whether you can actually do the job in the room, not just talk about it.

Why this happens

SE roles are unusually practical to interview for — the skills are directly observable in a live exercise, so most interview loops include one: explain a product, run a mock demo, or work through a technical discovery scenario on the spot.

Why the obvious fix doesn't work

Over-preparing generic answers doesn't help much, because the exercise is the point — they're watching how you think and communicate under a bit of pressure, not grading a rehearsed script.

What actually changes it

Practicing the actual mechanics: explaining a technical concept out loud to two different audiences, running a mock demo, and having a few real "tell me about a time" stories with specifics, not generalities.
